GrowlVoice is a wonderful app that brings Google Voice to your Mac for $4.99.
If you have a mobile device, you can just use Google’s Google Voice app. But if you’re on a desktop you’ll want to check out GrowlVoice for Mac.
Great for texting
Now you can send texts with a real keyboard instead of your phone. With GrowlVoice, a text conversation feels more like a chat.
Be careful, though – what seems to you like a couple of short texts could be a real nuisance to your friend with a phone and a 140-character limit.
With GrowlVoice, you don’t have to refresh the Google Voice page to see what’s new. Instead, you see notifications from GrowlVoice as soon as your Google Voice account receives anything.
Keyboard shortcuts let you instantly send a text, make a call, or open your inbox.
If you use keyboard shortcuts as much as I do, you should also check out Apptivate. Apptivate lets you assign a custom keyboard shortcut to any app or file.
You tell me. There’s a 3-week trial avaiable at the GrowlVoice website.
I was glad to pay $4.99 for Growl Voice. If you use Google Voice fairly regularly to quickly send & receive texts, I highly recommend it.
If you don’t use Google Voice very often, give GrowlVoice a try and see if that changes anything.
