Back in June, I told you about Google acquiring Israeli startup Waze, a popular GPS mapping service for Android and iOS. I said:
“For the time being, the two maps (and their respective apps) will remain separate. However, it’s only a matter of time before all that data from Waze starts finding its way into Google Maps.”
That day is here, my friends. Google has integrated Waze traffic incident reports into Google Maps. I’ve seen it already in Android, and it’s live for iOS users (with the app update) as well. You don’t have to use Waze to take advantage of these live incident reports, either. But if you should choose to, you can download the app free from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.
Not all traffic incident report types are included. It looks like they’re focusing on major things right now, like accidents, that may slow you down on your route.
