HTC Droid DNA: Full 1080p, 5-inch Display

Phones with 720p HD displays are old news. You know what’s cool? A 5-inch, 1080p Super LCD 3 display with an astonishing 440 pixels-per-inch. Meet the Droid DNA, the latest and greatest superphone from HTC and Verizon, unveiled at a media event this morning in New York.

The Droid DNA goes up for pre-order today, and arrives in stores around the country next Wednesday (November 21) for $199 with a two-year contract. Not too shabby. Clearly, the holidays are a big time of the year for carriers, with millions of upgrades happening in the next 45 days.

Here’s a quick run down of the specs for the Droid DNA:

- Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU (1.5ghz, quad-core)
- 16GB Internal Storage (no SD card slot)
- 4G LTE / 802.11 a/b/g/n / WiFi-Direct / DLNA / Bluetooth 4 / NFC
- 5-inch, 1080 x 1920 Super LCD 3 Display (440ppi)
- 8MP Rear Camera (f/2.0 aperture)
- 2.1MP Front Camera (f/2.0 aperture; 88-degree wide angle)
- Both Cameras Record 1080p Video at 30 fps
- 2,500 mAh battery
- Ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

What do you think? As HTC’s sales have slumped lately (to say the least), could the Droid DNA help them make a splash this holiday season? Let me know on Twitter if you’re planning on picking one up: @mbchp.
