A couple guys with a Brooklyn-based startup are on the verge of releasing an affordable product that could help you have more lucid dreams.
First, if you’re not familiar with lucid dreams, they are any dream that you have when you are aware that you are dreaming. If you pause for a second and think about it, you’ll realize that in most of your deep slumber dream states, you really are just going along with the storyline in your dreams, you don’t actually know that it’s a dream. But for people who are able to recognize that they’re having a dream, they can supposedly take control of themselves and accomplish anything, from flying, to teleportation, to secret lives … really anything.
So these guys are running a Kickstarter campaign, and for an $80 investment, you can get one of their first programmable sleeping masks that will apparently help you have lucid dreams. Here’s how the masks work: Each mask has two sets of three red LED lights that can be programmed to blink in any combination of ways. The mask detects when you reach a lengthy period of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, and when you’re there, it fires off the blinking lights, which aren’t bright enough to wake you up, but which you would allegedly see in your dream. If Dream World You were able to recognize the light pattern, you could realize that you’re in a dream, and thus enter a lucid state. Every dream could become a mini vacation!
The magic these guys are reporting to sell is intoxicating, to say the least, so if you’re willing to be an early adopter and try this mask, called the Remee, out before it hits the mass market, go throw a few dollars to the founders of the company and report back to us at the ZAGGblog how it works.
