Samsung Announces Availability and Pricing for Galaxy NX DSLR Camera

I first told you about the Samsung Galaxy NX camera when it was announced back in June. We haven’t heard much about it since, but today, Samsung has finally put a price and release window out there for us. It’ll be available in time for the holiday shopping season, in-stores in October. It comes with a steep price tag, though: $1,599 for the body only and $1,699 for the body and 18-55mm kit lens.

While I’m waiting for our review unit to arrive, I thought I’d share some of the sample photos Samsung included in their press kit that were taken with the Galaxy NX. It uses a 20.3MP APS-C sensor and a DRIMe IV digital image processor to produce images like these. In case you’re looking for a dual-duty shooter, it also records 1080p HD video at 30 fps. The NX runs Android 4.2, has 16gb of internal storage (expandable via microSD cards up to 64gb), 2gb of RAM, a 4.8-inch HD touchscreen display, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi (no cellular on this model), and integrated GPS for geo-tagging your photos.

Check out these photos and let me know on Twitter – is the Galaxy NX a camera you’d consider? If not, what would you get instead?
