Tech for Schools Winner: $25,000 in technology going to an elementary school in Tennessee

Tech for Schools Giveaway

With a grand prize of $25,000 in technology for a K-12 public school, we launched ZAGG’s Tech for Schools Giveaway in September. The idea was that participants would enter the giveaway and nominate a school to win the grand prize. At the end of the giveaway, one entry would be randomly selected to win the prize. Additionally, the individual who submits the winning entry will win an iMac. Over the course of the giveaway, over 700,000 entries were submitted. This week a winner was selected.

Old Center Elementary School

Located just 15 minutes north of downtown Nashville, Old Center Elementary School opened its doors in 1815 as a one-room, log schoolhouse. Over 300 students, grades PreK-4, attend the school. Students and faculty are led by Dr. Betsy Potts, who is in her first year as the school’s principal.

We couldn’t be more excited to work with Dr. Potts and her team. The faculty at Old Center Elementary School is building a $25,000 technology “shopping list” and we are tentatively planning on delivering the goods on December 6th. We plan on personally delivering the technology at that time. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates.

Marveya Gooch

It was Marveya Gooch’s effort that brought a $25,000 gift to Old Center Elementary School. For submitting the winning entry, she wins an iMac for herself. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer person. After attending Xavier University and American Baptist College, Marveya now works in accounting and is a Minister of Children & Youth at First Baptist Church of Gallatin. She is the legal guardian of her two nephews.

Upon winning the Tech for Schools Giveaway, Marveya told us, “I believe in the African Proverb “It takes a village to raise a child.” When parents, teachers and community all work together we can give our kids the necessary tools to succeed.”

We truly couldn’t be more excited for the winners. Watch ZAGGblog for updates, photos, and video from the prize delivery.
